How to test your mouse
- Move your cursor into the test box.
- Click each button: left, right, middle (press the scroll wheel) and the side buttons if your mouse has them.
- Scroll up and down. The counters should increase by one for each notch.
- Click the left button normally several times and watch for warnings.
Is my mouse double clicking?
A worn switch can register one physical click as two. The test measures the gap between left clicks. If it sees a repeat that is faster than a human can click, it warns you. This is a very common fault on older gaming mice.
Troubleshooting
Scroll wheel jumps the wrong way
If scrolling down sometimes counts as up, the wheel encoder is dirty or worn. Compressed air into the wheel area can help.
Side buttons do nothing
Some mice need their own software to enable side buttons. Some browsers also reserve them for back and forward navigation.
Wireless mouse lags or skips
Replace the battery, move the receiver closer using a USB extension, and keep it away from USB 3 ports, which can cause interference.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my mouse double click?
The switch inside the mouse wears out and bounces, sending two signals for one click. Replacing the switch or the mouse fixes it.
Can I test a trackpad?
Yes. Tap and click inside the box. Two finger scrolling is counted by the scroll counters.
Why does my right click do nothing here?
Right clicks inside the test box are counted instead of opening the menu. Watch the Right counter.
Does this test DPI or polling rate?
Not in this version. It tests buttons, the wheel and click reliability.
